Nice to meet you! I’m Paula, and I’m a character designer and illustrator from Gran Canaria.
Although I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, that wasn’t my career path at first. Back when I was in high school I didn’t know that animation or illustration could be a field someone could work in (plus everyone told me that illustration wasn’t a “serious career”) and being the high achiever that I was at the time, I decided to study medicine. It wasn’t until my third year that I finally came to my senses and decided that I wanted to persue what I’m really passionate about: creating characters and the worlds around them.
I then moved to Madrid to study concept art and character design and ever since I live here with my partner.
I’ve worked in different animated projects designing characters and I’m currently illustrating children books.
I really enjoy experimenting with different visual styles to meet the needs of the projects that I work on and create fun and expressive characters. Most of my ideas and designs are really comedy driven, but I like to explore different ranges of emotions and ideas since my goal is to be a versatile designer.
I’m really inspired by simply living and observing life around me, being in presence of the people that I love and the stories they have to tell, and getting to experience things together, good and bad. I also find myself always coming back to explore fashion related stories, adventures involving children and the sea and it’s mysteries!
When I’m not making art, I love walking in nature, reading anything I get my hands on (although I’m a really moody reader haha), watching movies or cooking new recipes for my loved ones.
